Doug Miller, owner of Miller Design, graduated from Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska, in May 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Emphasis on two dimensional painting, drawing, and graphic communications. Prior to his college education, Doug's art was influenced by his immediate family. Doug's father teaches art and creates western themed gallery paintings. His older brother is an agency Art Director, and younger brother is an Art Teacher. Doug marketed his illustration skills as he entered into the professional world. His first stint was an illustrator at a yearbook company. Doug illustrated yearbook covers, designed logos and layouts on the Mac. Doug moved on to be an Art Director at a direct mail marketing and advertising design agency. The corporate experience allowed Doug to work on a higher caliber of clientele with budgets to occasionally accommodate creative direct mail packages. The experience also revealed direct mail marketing, advertising techniques, and direct mail data base capabilities. Doug was then offered an outstanding Art Director opportunity at a sports memorabilia company. It was here that Doug garnered an enormous amount of print-related and web-related production experience. It was an opportunity to fully utilize his graphic design and illustration skills for the creation of officially licensed sports collectibles, trading cards, and apparel. The work also involved product packaging, in-store display, signage, and marketing collateral. The wide range of work helped develop an extensive knowledge of unique printing processes. Freelance opportunities allowed Doug to break away and start Miller Design in 1995.
